Spiritual Development
As a Catholic school, we strive to offer an education which is both, 'Catholic and Excellent'. Our faith is the foundation of our school and it is important we impart this faith to our students.

With prayer as a central theme of our day, we pray together to begin the day at 8:33 AM and we pray to end the day at 3:05 PM. In addition, every Friday the entire school gathers as one community for Mass at 8:45 AM. Parents regularly comment in annual surveys that, "OLH is a community where prayer is a value."

In addition to prayer, students in all grades take part in daily religion classes where they learn more about Scripture, Church teachings and the values which make us God's people. Using Archdiocesan approved textbooks as well as myriad on-line resources, children see that our faith is relevant to the modern world and has its foundation in centuries of tradition.

In order to help children apply what they learn in class, multiple service projects are organized throughout the year. Some of the projects include :
-Collecting non-perishables for the Little Sisters of the Poor and assisting them with their ministry to the elderly. ( www.littlesistersofthepoorpalatine.org)
-Making lunches for the Libertyville PADS Homeless Shelter (www.padslakecounty.org)
-Planting a school garden with the fresh produce being shared with the Parish Food Pantry for distribution.-Visits to Feed My Starving Children to assist with their ministry to pack and deliver food to third world countries. (http://m.fmsc.org)
